Electives are also available in a variety of subjects, include coding, engineering, ecology, and music.
51±¬ÁÏ’s mission is to provide a K-12 education that expands access to career and college opportunities through self-paced learning.

Subjects Offered in 51±¬ÁÏ’s Online 2nd Grade Program
Each of 51±¬ÁÏ’s online courses has key objectives and learning outcomes. Outlining important milestones for our second grade students keeps them aligned with their peers in terms of the curriculum they are studying. The following are a few important objectives for second graders to achieve before moving to third grade:
- Language Arts and Reading:ÌýThe goal of 51±¬ÁÏ’s second grade language arts and reading course is to build students’ English literary skills of reading comprehension, writing, and knowledge of the different parts of speech.
- Mathematics:ÌýOur Grade 2 Math course focuses on notation, linear measurements, mastering addition and subtraction, and introducing basic geometric principles.
- Science:ÌýIn second grade, students acquire a deeper understanding of topics they learned in first grade, including animals, plants, habitats, weather, and Earth’s resources.
- Social Studies:Ìý51±¬ÁÏ’s Grade 2 Social Studies course, expands on the social interactions and community that students learn in kindergarten and first grade. They begin to look at the world from a broader scope and begin to study industries, the United States, and various cultures across the country and world.
The courses are designed so that all students master the concepts in a subject area before moving on to higher-level topics.

Vectored Instruction®
Filling Foundational Gaps for Student Success
As students are progressing through a course, sometimes they lack the foundational skills needed to successfully complete the material. If students are stuck, Acellus analyzes which foundational concepts they need to review in order to master the grade level concepts they are struggling with. Vectored Instruction is then prescribed to fill in those gaps, going as deep as required to rebuild their foundational understanding, allowing them to move forward in their education.Ìý
